Driven nuts by the alchemist quests in Eternal Loss? Can't nail that double jump timing? CG black screens making you ragequit? Chill, this guide's got every single pain point covered - from basic controls to 100% collection, save file locations to black screen fixes. Just copy the homework and you're good.

I. Basic Controls

How to go fullscreen? Hunt down Config.exe in the game root folder, switch windowed mode to fullscreen, set resolution to match your monitor, save and restart. If Config won't launch, just right-click the main exe → Properties → Compatibility → Run in 640x480 resolution. Brute force but works.

Where are the save files? This game's save location is cursed - not in Documents, not in the install folder. Hit Win+R, type %appdata%, find the LaVitalis or ImmortalLoss folder, SaveData is inside. Copy that path, you'll need it later for the alchemist quest.

How to double jump? Most asked question ever. Double jump isn't spamming space - you MUST press space again at the peak of your first jump, the exact moment you start falling. Timing's everything. Practice 20 times in the training room first. Keyboard players, remap space to a mouse side button for easier timing.

What's the deal with repairing clothes? When durability hits zero, clothes break and affect certain cutscenes. Go to the alchemy workshop, find the sewing station, needs 3 threads + 1 magic fabric. Threads drop from slimes, magic fabric is in Chapter 2 library chest. Don't run around in rags - some NPC dialogues change.

II. Alchemist Quest Full Walkthrough

How to start the quest? After beating Chapter 1 boss, DON'T enter the portal yet. Walk all the way back, there's a hidden NPC named Sophia. Talk to her THREE times to trigger the quest. Most players miss this completely and can't unlock the alchemy system later.

Where are the research notes? 5 total, locations below:

1. Chapter 1 boss room, right hidden wall, blow it up with bombs.

2. Chapter 2 underwater maze, needs diving potion (recipe in Alchemy Basics book).

3. Chapter 3 clock tower top, requires double jump + wall jump.

4. Chapter 4 underground prison, after freeing the prisoner, smash the wall behind him.

5. Chapter 5 before final boss, return to starting village, new chest at bottom of the well.

How to complete the quest? After collecting all 5 notes, return to Sophia. She'll give you the Eternal Key. This opens the hidden door in the final chapter for the true ending boss. SAVE before handing in the quest - wrong dialogue choice fails it and Sophia disappears forever.

III. Full Collection Guide

All Key Locations 12 keys total, 7 from main story, 5 hidden. Hidden keys:

1. Behind the chicken coop in the village, bomb the haystack.

2. Chapter 2 merchant guild master's room, steal at night (he's there all day).

3. Behind Chapter 3 waterfall, need double jump to dash through.

4. Chapter 4 graveyard, inspect the rightmost tombstone 20 times.

5. Chapter 5 sky castle, after fake ending boss, DON'T click teleport, walk back three rooms.

CG Collection Tips 47 CGs total, easiest to miss are the special ones with broken clothes. After each chapter, return to village and talk to every NPC while wearing different outfits. 3 CGs only unlock after completing the alchemist quest while wearing the alchemist robe when talking to Sophia.

Steam Eruption Device This isn't a consumable, it's permanent. Found deep in Chapter 3 mines. Hold up + attack to dash upward, basically a double jump upgrade. Needed for many late-game hidden chests, don't toss it in storage.

IV. Black Screen & Bug Fixes

CG black screen fix? Most common issue is missing codecs. Install LAVFilters, or rename the Movie folder in game directory to skip CGs entirely. To watch CGs normally, downgrade GPU drivers to 5xx series - new drivers have compatibility issues.

Game won't launch, black screen? Delete config.ini in the save folder to reset settings. Still no luck? Right-click main exe → Properties → Compatibility → Run as administrator. Laptop users MUST switch to dedicated GPU, integrated graphics = instant black screen.

Alchemy station freeze This bug plagues version 0.23, pressing ESC too fast during alchemy softlocks the game. Solution: don't mash ESC, let the animation finish naturally. Already frozen? Task Manager kill the process, before reloading set the save file to Read-Only, load the game, then remove Read-Only.

V. Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Boss fight tips Chapter 1 boss is a tutorial but still trips people up. When the boss slams the ground, you must jump at the PEAK of your jump to avoid it - jumping too early gets you knocked down. Ignore the minions, focus fire the boss, the longer you stall the harder it gets.

Hidden elements After beating the boss, DON'T leave. Light the four braziers in this order: top-left → bottom-right → bottom-left → top-right. Hidden chest spawns with the only elemental weapon in early game. Miss this and Chapter 2 becomes a pain.

Speedrun trick Pros can bomb the boss room wall directly, skipping two mob rooms before it. Needs 7 bombs, save them from the start. This is for speedruns only, not recommended for normal play - you'll miss lots of collectibles.

Full save downloads Most "LaVitalis full CG saves" online don't work due to version mismatch. Head to F95Zone and search immortal loss tag, players there post updated saves regularly. Backup your own saves before downloading, direct overwrite might delete all achievements.

Save editing guide Want to edit saves yourself? Open save file with Notepad, search "gold" to edit money, search "key" to edit key count. Don't set values too high, exceeding 65535 causes overflow errors. Backup before editing, you're on your own if you break it.
