Preface: Why I Binge-Played This "Martian" Game
1. Making MADs is really exhausting, and when I hit a creative block, I wanted to find a game to relax. A friend had been recommending this title to me for ages. Although it's a "Martian" (outdated) game from two years ago, once I started, I literally couldn't stop. Before I knew it, I had cleared all character routes—games that make you want to complete every route are truly rare, so I decided to write up my thoughts to share. Part 2 is more like a fandisc, so I'll discuss it together with Part 1. I'll try to keep spoilers to a minimum in what follows—these are purely personal impressions, not a professional review. If you're considering playing, you can read this without worry.

Game Info: Bakushou Island Basic Information
1. Game Title: Nukige Mitai na Shima ni Sunderu Futamura wa Dousurya Ii Desu ka?
2. Common Abbreviations: Bakushou Island, Nukitashi
3. Release Date: Part 1 in July 2018, Part 2 in July 2019
4. Developer: Qruppo
5. Game Type: It's your typical galgame, but with a very unrestrained worldview and explicit content. The graphics quality was above average for its time, with plenty of CGs and likable character sprites. While the music isn't particularly outstanding, the battle BGMs do a good job building atmosphere. System features are standard—fast-forward, skip, and log functions are all well-implemented, making for a smooth gameplay experience.
Worldview: This Island Has Insane Regulations
1. Honestly, I have no idea how to describe this worldview without getting censored—the explicit content levels are off the charts. Simply put, the protagonist lives on Aoiro Island, which enforces an absolutely insane set of sexual regulations, and the entire island is shrouded in these crazy rules. The protagonist, who detests these regulations, gathers like-minded companions to form the NLNS organization, fighting against the island's ruling power, the SS, determined to completely eliminate this inhumane system. Throughout this process, all sorts of passionate and hilarious stories unfold, with battles, daily life, emotional moments, and funny faces.
2. While this setup sounds unserious, the game actually tells a fairly serious story within this absurd framework. The island's facilities, organizational conflicts, and various factions' positions are all depicted in considerable detail. As players progress through the story, they gradually understand how this world came to be and what motivates each character.
In-Depth Analysis of All Character Routes in Part 1

[Katagiri Nanase] Playing the Safest Game with the Best Hand
1. This game's designated "bitch" character, but her real personality is completely opposite. Childhood friend + first love + tsundere dirty-talk "bitch" + homemaker cook + sports prodigy—this character is absolutely stacked with traits from the get-go. She deliberately cultivates a slutty "bitch" image at school as a self-defense mechanism to avoid the sexual regulations, but deep down, she's a genuinely pure girl. She's also the top sister-in-law candidate for the protagonist's sister Masane, who frequently has delusional 3P scenarios.
2. The story is honestly a bit disappointing. She had the best hand but played the safest, most conservative game. This route lacks the explosive moments that make other routes stand out, and the overall pacing is rather flat. While the introduction-development-turn-conclusion structure is solid, it could have used more intense conflicts in the middle or deeper emotional climaxes. The SS executive in this route is President Touka, who, as student council president and SS leader, causes massive problems for the protagonist's group with her charisma and leadership.
3. Nanase's ending is fairly standard—the romance wraps up satisfactorily but lacks that mind-blowing twist. Players who enjoy traditional childhood friend tropes will probably find it right up their alley, but those looking for more surprises might find it underwhelming.

[Watarai Hinami] Contradictory Beliefs and Mutual Salvation

1. This game's designated loli flat-chest character, though already a senior, is often mistaken for an elementary schooler due to her petite figure. This body type ironically protects her from the island's sexual regulations—a blessing in disguise. She's super sensitive to words like "loli" and "flat-chest," immediately getting angry when they're mentioned. She possesses unparalleled gentle maternal radiance, providing the most crucial emotional comfort when the protagonist is on the verge of collapse.

2. I personally think the Hinami route is the most complete and exciting individual route. In this route, the protagonist infiltrates the SS organization as a spy, providing a deeper depiction of SS's internal operations. Players can re-examine this game's worldview from a completely different perspective. The corresponding SS executive, Chairwoman Rei, plays a key role in this route, directly provoking the protagonist's internal contradictions and struggles with his own beliefs.

3. This route's emotional portrayal is quite profound, moving from initial opposition to mutual understanding, with each step being very convincing. The only potentially jarring element is how overpowered Hinami's folding stool is in the final battle, creating a sense of power-level inconsistency. But overall, this route excels in character development, plot tension, and emotional depth, making it one of the most worthwhile routes in Part 1.
[Azuma Misaki] Learning to Compromise in a Crazy World

1. This game's designated invisible character—clearly cute but always overlooked. Foodie trait + literary girl + vehicle driving prodigy, especially with maxed-out talent for controlling all kinds of transportation, often helping the team escape danger by driving cars, boats, and planes. She enjoys reading literary erotic works and has a strange obsession with dieting that never works.

2. The first half's daily life plot has plenty of laughs, with various吐槽 (tsukkomi/roasts) and funny faces that crack you up. The second half takes a divine twist, with the protagonist's abilities being exaggerated to the point of being hard to吐槽 (tsukkomi), but considering this worldview is already crazy enough, it doesn't feel out of place. This route focuses on how the protagonist reconciles with past hatred and learns to accept help from others in times of difficulty. The corresponding SS executive is Captain Ikuko, who shows an unexpectedly meek side after the protagonist helps her despite his hatred, creating maximum gap moe.

3. The Misaki route's theme is compromise and growth, telling a story about forgiveness and moving forward within an absurd setting. While the development is a bit ridiculous, the emotional core remains solid.
[Kotoyori Fumino] The Magnum Opus - Coexistence of Ideal and Reality

1. A mysterious girl who comes with her own BGM, mostly background decoration in the first three routes. Expert sniper + environmental awareness + top-tier housework skills—the kind that can spoil a normal person into becoming useless. Due to long-term wandering with little human contact, she doesn't speak much and shows little emotional expression, but has absolute loyalty to the protagonist. Because of her special identity, Fumino becomes the focus of contention among various factions.

2. The Fumino route is the special True Ending route in Part 1, requiring completion of the first three routes to unlock. Part 2's main storyline continues from this route's ending. This route perfectly demonstrates the gap between ideal and reality, directly challenging the values players established in the first three routes. I personally think the Fumino route provides the perfect conclusion to Bakushou Island Part 1, finally achieving consensus among different viewpoints and delivering the ending the protagonists truly hoped for.
3. Fumino really suffers, enduring various abuses and loneliness, yet remains strong and brave. After clearing this route, there's a refreshing feeling like clouds parting to reveal the sun, similar to the sense of relief when Steins;Gate reaches the Steins Gate worldline. While the plot direction may be somewhat idealistic, this hopefulness might be exactly what inspires people in reality. This route ties up all foreshadowing and sweeps away all regrets from the first three routes, making it the undisputed happy ending.

Part 2 New Characters and After Stories
[Reizain Touka] The Gap Moe of a Desireless Girl

1. This game's designated masochistic junior. Student Council President and SS Leader with genius-level paperwork and combat abilities, but a complete disaster at daily life who can't survive without someone taking care of her. Called the "desireless girl" due to her inner lack of wants, but becomes unusually fixated on things she does want, with special preferences like NTR tendencies.

2. The gap in this route is absolutely insane. You think she's the final boss, but she's actually a helpless, useless moe girl—this contrast is both hilarious and heartbreaking. Touka doesn't quite understand others' feelings and often unintentionally hurts people despite meaning no harm. And the protagonist, as NLNS captain, becomes the only person who can understand her. This route's character development is terrifyingly detailed—the more you play, the more you appreciate Touka's charm. Her character is built up gradually, and the ending is very satisfying.
[Onneta Ikuko] Never Losing to That Tragic Past

1. This game's designated little devil. Captain of SS's strongest first squad with off-the-charts combat power, her pride and competitiveness are both through the roof. The last successor of the Onneta school, she loves coffee milk and is very self-conscious about her natural curls. She speaks provocatively, always calling the protagonist "Darling."

2. While playing Part 1, I thought this character was just a madwoman, but Part 2 skyrocketed my favorability through various dark history foreshadowing + dedicated emotional development. That captivating voice paired with the little devil personality is absolutely perfect. Ikuko's mental fortitude is terrifyingly strong—facing family tragedy and childhood trauma, she downplays it all to prevent the protagonist from pitying her. This resilience completely changes your perception. The final plot where everyone shoots down a meteorite is absurd, but as a personal route that strengthens character development, Ikuko's route has surprisingly high completion.
[Ukawa Rei] The Struggle Between Victim and Perpetrator

1. This game's designated discipline committee member, SS's devil instructor, tokusatsu fan who gets wild when drunk. Rei was an important supporting character with screen time in Part 1, truly shining in the Hinami route. As the eldest sister in her family caring for younger siblings, she has past abuse experiences and harbors deep hatred for regulation violators. But she has an excellent relationship with Hinami, often playing the protector role.

2. Rei probably has the darkest past in the entire series—twisted family background, a victim of the regulations herself, who became a perpetrator after joining SS for scholarship money. This route mainly depicts her struggle with guilt, creating a rather heavy, oppressive atmosphere. The only pity is that it doesn't show a more distant future development, like what happens after they graduate—that's something I'd want to see. But overall, the emotional portrayal in Rei's route is still very delicate.
[Tachibana Masane] The Tachibana Household is Peaceful as Always

1. This game's designated blood-related sister, a closet pervert otaku with yuri tendencies. A programming genius who serves as NLNS's operator, handling intelligence and tactical support. She has special feelings for Nanase and delusional 3P fantasies, and has a mutually dependent relationship with the protagonist.

2. Yes, there's even a blood-related sister route, but in After Story format, set after Part 2's main storyline. The beginning is quite serious, making you expect major Tachibana family dark history revelations, but it's basically just sibling daily life with a relatively open ending and no decisive development. Still, it's congratulations-worthy that Fumino finally gets to officially join the Tachibana family, and the 3P dream is realized in Nanase's After Story. This route has plenty of sweetness but lacks depth, perfect for players wanting to relax.
[Naga Iha] Temporary Lovers, Eternal Bonds

1. The Susuko route isn't part of the main game and requires purchasing a separate DLC. This route mainly depicts Male Protagonist B who travels to Worldline A, and his friendship with two SS companions. The most brutal part is how this route mentally breaks childhood friend Nanase to the point of collapse—it's almost too painful to watch. But Susuko, though a junior, has surprisingly mature mentality, being somewhat serious with a dash of little devil attributes.
2. The ending maintains the series' spirit of unrestrained, passionate, pure love. But considering the DLC only costs 100 yen, the value is absolutely incredible. Players interested in the Worldline B setting absolutely cannot miss this route.
Conclusion: Is This Game Worth Playing?

1. Overall, Bakushou Island is a work with off-the-charts completion. Part 1 itself is very well-structured, with solid worldbuilding, character development, and plot convergence. The four routes showcase four different methods of overthrowing the regulations, each providing a different experience. Since Part 2 has a shared main storyline, the individual routes focus more on romance, making their quality more consistent. What's impressive is that Part 2 fills in the SS perspective that was missing from Part 1, significantly raising the overall completion level.

2. While the game has an absurd worldview with explosive explicit content, it tells a fairly serious story within this unserious framework—it's not just textbook-style heroic drama. All romanceable characters are fully developed, with basically no weak routes. In this crazy worldview, you'll genuinely care about each character's fate, and there's rarely any sense of repetition. It's packed with references and memes that will have knowledgeable players laughing their heads off.

3. Bakushou Island Part 2 perfectly concludes the series, making it a heartfelt, fan-service-filled sequel for fans. If you've played Part 1, Part 2 is absolutely unmissable. The entire gameplay experience is fresh from start to finish. While the plot depth might not be industry-leading, the completion level and gameplay experience are absolutely top-tier. Bakushou Island's title and worldview might remind you of certain places, but its core is actually quite serious storytelling. The only minor regret is that the H-scenes could have been more integrated with the worldview. Overall, this is one of the few recent masterpieces that had me completing every route while still wanting more. Highly recommended for fans of story-driven galgames.
